Hi Bruce,
I am trying to piece together the family tree of the Breretons in Victoria from 1850s on for a book Im writing. I have various conflicting stories such as two brothers David and James who were transported as convicts in 1851 on the Rodney2 to Tasmania. I have their convict records. My father Kevin Brereton who grew up in Melbourne told me that his great grandparents came from a place called No Where Creek near Glenpatrick Avoca north of Melbourne. He thought they were Irish Jews from around Cork?
Another story says the Breretons were Plymouth Brethrens from Melbourne.
Anyone with any other stories or info would be much appreciated.
